MAYBELLINE LASTING DRAMA GEL EYELINER PEN

9 times out of 10 my day to day make up involves some kind of winged liner. I'm addicted to the look and I actually feel rather naked without it these days. I'm always on the look out for long lasting formulas that make application easier so when I saw this one popping up on a few of the blogs that I read, I ran out on my lunch break to grab one straight away picked one up on my next trip to Boots.

I think we would all say that we were bombarded by reviews of Benefit's brand new, revolutionary They're Real Push Up Liner and I was very close to shelling out for it when I saw this offering from Maybelline.  Their Lasting Drama Gel Liner Pen looks very much like a dupe of the Benefit Liner Pen to me.

Maybelline have really cracked it with their version.  The pigmentation is so good and I've never owned an eyeliner that can give me a line as black as coal without having to go over it a second time.  It's as black as black gets!  The next positive is the consistency which is just right for application.  It's obviously not liquid at all so it doesn't run and it isn't so thick that it needs to be dragged across the eyelids.  When it comes to the nib I'm not sure it makes it any easier to apply for me personally.  It doesn't make it any more difficult although, because of the difference from my usual liquid liner, it did take a few goes to get used to.  Another thing I like about this is the fact that the lid screws on rather than just being a push on pull off kind of cap.  I know it seems small but one of my pet peeves is lids popping off and causing all kinds of mess in my make up bag!

So does it really last that long without fading or smudging?  Maybelline claim it will last for 36 hours and I've got to be honest, I've got a feeling this could actually outlast their claim.  I wear this from around 7am until I take it off in the evening, sometimes as late as midnight and you know what?  It still looks perfect!  No flaking, no smudging, no fading.  Of course that means it's a pest to remove so a good oil based eye make up remover is needed for this one. Overall I don't think I could recommend this enough.  Whether you're a liner newb or an old hand this is definitely worth having in your make up bag.

  1. This looks like a product I need! I love a good winged eyeliner. I've always loved using a felt tip pen but have recently fallen in love with gel eyeliner so a gel pen should be the best of both worlds! :)

  4. I just bought this but haven't tried it yet! :) I liked the finish of the Benefit one but found it a little fiddly. I think I can deal with it for such a good price though if I stick to this dupe xx

  5. Would love to know what you think of it once you have tried it. The price is incredible compared to the Benefit liner and I'm so glad I saw this before I splurged on it!
